Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Reliance Controls Corporation THP103 AmWatt Appliance Load Tester / Plug-in Ammeter and Wattmeter (Lawn & Patio)
I live in Southern California which is earthquake country! I bought a small portable generator (Wen 56200i) so I could power the necessities in my home in the case of a bad situation. I also bought this reliance controls THP103 so I can test out how much wattage I would really need using my new generator. I went through my entire house and checked everything with it. Lights, TV, Wi-Fi routers, refrigerator, various appliances etc. because of the THP103 I now know exactly what’s going on in terms of how much wattage is nessesary to not over load my new generator. I am now prepared for the unexpected! Do your homework and be prepared when unexpected disaster strikes!

Easy to use, October 15, 2017
By steven –
Shipped same day delivered two days later. Using the formula amps X volts = watts, I calculated the frig at 720 starting watts. Meter reads 718 watts. Very close. Easy to use. One slide switch to select watts or amps. Large, easy to read numbers. The attached cord is a nice feature. Meter is easier to use VS one that plugs into the outlet. I purchased meter to know the starting (surge) watts of appliances to know what size generator to purchase for emergency use. Using award points the meter cost $14.00. Knowing surge watts I was abler to purchase a smaller generator and saved $150.00. If you want to know surge watts, running watts and amps this is the meter to purchase.

A must have for portable generators!, April 12, 2016

Use this to see how many watts / amps I am using on my portable generator.Well made unit with nice easy to see display that can be switched between watts or amps, depending on your preference.Still working and looking like new after over 2 years.Would recommend if you have a generator and want to know if you’re pushing the wattage limits so you won’t damage the generator.
